Multimatic’s Planned Expansion in UK Supported by Regional Growth Fund

THETFORD, England (May 8th, 2014) – Multimatic is pleased and grateful to announce that its application to the British Government’s Regional Growth Fund (RGF5) has resulted in a conditional grant offer supporting planned future investment to develop:

  • A new Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) process and pilot manufacturing research centre in Wymondham, England
  • A new high volume structural CFRP production facility in Coventry, England, provided the manufacturing technology proves to be successful

As a recognized leader in the engineering and manufacturing of lightweight structural composites for motorsport and high performance automotive applications, Multimatic will use the RGF funding to support the development of a novel high volume manufacturing processes and then, once the process is proven commercially viable, help facilitate the establishment of a world-class facility for production of structural CFRP components for the main stream automotive industry.

The project will create a significant number of new jobs in the advanced engineering and manufacturing sector, and significantly contribute to meeting the automotive industry’s growing demand for lightweight CFRP vehicle structures. Sales arising from this project will be on a commercial basis directly to automotive OEMs worldwide, with no involvement from public sector organisations.

Multimatic would like to thank the following organizations for their significant support in this venture: the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS), UKTI, the Automotive Investment Organisation (AIO), and also the Norfolk County Council for their continued assistance and involvement. The Government support of RGF has made a significant difference to this project becoming a reality and creating growth and employment opportunities in our community specifically and the UK in general.
