MARKHAM, Ontario (April 21, 2014) – The opening round of this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) saw Rebellion Racing’s LMP1 Lola B12/60s coming out of retirement for one last run.
Having supposedly closed out its Lola era last year with an overall victory at Petit LeMans, the Swiss team expected to replace Huntingdon’s best with all-new cars from a French manufacturer for this season. With the new car delayed, however, Rebellion reverted to its proven Lolas for the season-opening Silverstone 6-hour.
To the Multimatic engineers, aerodynamicists, and laminators who have continued with Lola development since 2012, the ensuing Privateer class pole position and win were no surprise. Lola picked up right where it left off, finishing fourth overall behind the big-budget factory teams.
