MARKHAM, Ontario (March 9th, 2020) – Multimatic introduces the latest evolution of its Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve (DSSV) technology in the form of bespoke dampers engineered to meet the needs of Formula SAE and Formula Student competition.

Over the past two decades, Multimatic DSSV dampers have demonstrated a dominance throughout top levels of motorsport, and have successfully transitioned into OEM production vehicle applications. This proven technology, along with the development tools necessary to optimize its potential, is now becoming available to students and teams participating in global competitions.

Developed as a collaboration between student engineering interns and Multimatic’s vehicle dynamics team, the new dampers leverage the system architecture and spool valve cartridges of Multimatic’s GT and prototype-level race dampers.

As part of a pilot program, three Canadian university teams and one in the UK, have each configured, assembled, dynoed and tuned a set of dampers to their own specifications and vehicle requirements, in preparation for upcoming testing and event competition.

Multimatic has long been involved with Formula SAE and Formula Student through judging at events, team sponsorships, and the establishment of a vehicle dynamics award at the Canadian Formula SAE North competition. The company also recognizes the importance of exposing talented young engineers to innovative technologies and helping them develop and learn from hands-on experience.

Formula SAE and Formula Student as well as similar programs play a critical role in developing the next generation of industry leading engineers and technologists, and Multimatic has hired numerous program alumni into its engineering facilities around the globe.

Available for either a conventional four-corner suspension setup, or one with front and rear decoupled roll/heave, the pilot program teams will test and develop the dampers during 2020, in preparation for an expanded Multimatic Formula SAE / Formula Student DSSV program in 2021.
