Infinite Door Check

Conventional door check systems generate hold forces at specific positions while Multimatic's device generates load in response to velocity states. When the closure panel approaches zero velocity state (no movement) the device returns a predetermined hold force to counter grades and wind. When the threshold force is overcome, the device releases and moves with virtually no resistance.

Multimatic's system is based on a proprietary passive hydraulic concept that utilizes the inherent advantages of a fluid power device jointly with a control system that is completely mechanical. Several development prototypes have been installed into vehicles for function, durability and corrosion evaluation. Threshold force (door check effort), system reset delay, and release force decay rate are all design controllable characteristics. The system has also been developed to include open and stop damping, excessive door opening speed limiter, thermal variation compensation and a check defeat zone at the closed position.
