Chassis/Suspension Development

Multimatic was contracted by DaimlerChrysler to modify the new RT-10 Dodge Viper chassis and create a body system appropriate for the high level of competition that exists in the premier class of showroom stock and entry level GT racing. This included the development of a comprehensive safety and stiffening tube structure to enhance the already outstanding production chassis. This modified chassis system works in conjunction with production suspension geometry, fully adjustable Dynamic Suspensions racing dampers and increased rate racing springs and sway bars.

Appropriate safety equipment was chosen and integrated into the package so that no modifications would be required to comply with all applicable competition rules. Additionally, Multimatic designed the highest quality racing hardware into the vehicle so that upgrading would not be required.

Multimatic developed a unique body system from DaimlerChrysler's design and built it using aerospace grade composite materials. Selected production components were utilized in the interest of reducing running costs (front fascia, windshield and frame). Aggressive aerodynamic aids were windtunnel developed by DaimlerChrysler and design integrated into the bodysystem by Multimatic.

The prototype vehicle was built by Multimatic and DaimlerChrysler's initial testing and development has indicated that it is a highly competitive package.
