Multimatic’s aerodynamics-testing services for both road and race applications are delivered by industry experts, and include:

  • Detailed test conception, planning and development

  • Preliminary FEA and CFD assessment and setup of scale or full-sized models
  • Complete logistics management and on-site administration
  • Comprehensive data analysis and recommendations with pre- and post-test engineering support

Multimatic has a strong working relationship with the Windshear full-scale, rolling-road wind tunnel (located in Concord, NC) which provides test speeds of up to 180 mph and up to 2.85 million ft3 (80,700 m3) of air per minute. Other wind tunnels are also utilized, depending on customer preference and the type of testing to be performed.

Multimatic’s highly qualified aerodynamicists bring a wealth of applied testing experience to vehicle development programs:

  • Chief Aerodynamicist, Dr. Mark Handford, is a leading authority in this field with over 25 years of hands-on experience. Mark has directed aerodynamics development for multiple Formula One and IndyCar teams.
  • Aerodynamics Technical Director, Brian Jones, brings wide-ranging road and race car testing and analysis experience to Multimatic.
