Team Canada Places Well at FFord Festival

MARKHAM, Ontario (October 28th, 2013) – Multimatic congratulates Team Canada on an excellent result at the 41st running of the world renowned Formula Ford Festival.

A global annual highlight of junior single-seat competition, the Festival is a rare chance to compare the skills of young racing drivers from different development formulas across the world. For the past three years, the Team Canada scholarship has sent Canada’s top young racing drivers to Brands Hatch for a chance to join the event’s illustrious list of winners, which includes fourteen current and former grand prix drivers.

Multimatic’s support of Team Canada saw the program’s entry expand to two drivers for 2013: Toyo Formula 1600 Rookie titleholder Zacharie Robichon of Ottawa, ON, and 2013 USF2000 Champion Scott Hargrove of Surrey, BC. Selected by a panel of Canadian racing professionals and members of the media, Hargrove and Robichon ran a pair of Ray GR08/09’s from Team Canada’s partner team Cliff Dempsey Racing.

The 19-race weekend at Brands’ 1.2079-mile Indy Circuit featured the super competitive Kent-engined class as its main event for the first time since 1992. Robichon and Hargrove were both solid top-six runners in Heat 1, but it was the BC native who ultimately made it to the traditional 20-lap final, where he finished in 4th place. Hargrove’s Ray was the first non-Van Diemen chassis across the line, 2.367s behind winner Niall Murray of Ireland.

Multimatic commends Team Canada’s organizers, selection panel and partners for representing a growing group effort on the part of Canada’s motorsport industry, and for successfully showcasing Canadian talent on the international stage.
