Cast or Forged Hinges

Forged and cast hinges offer an effective solution when packaging volume is limited as they can incorporate geometric stiffening features not possible in some stamped or profile solutions. They can also be easily designed with the soft corner radii frequently required by European external projection requirements.

The stiffness to weight ratio of forged and cast hinges falls between stamped and profile configurations, but they tend to carry a significant cost penalty.
