FR500 Mustang Front Suspension Program
Vehicle Profile
Multimatic was contracted by Ford to design a low-volume aluminum subframe and front suspension components for the FR500 Ford Mustang. The design replaces the stock MacPherson strut system. The objectives were to reduce weight and improve the handling characteristics of the car.
Chassis/Suspension Development
In addition to the features outlined above, the suspension system had to:
- Enable wheelbase lengthening with a 50/50
weight distribution
- Increase caster
- Improve camber gain
Multimatic provided the following services:
- Prototype build & testing
- Four post vehicle dynamics development and
durability testing
- Build validation program
